A classic Eastern Beauty for its beautiful colour and great hardness, Jadeite or "Fei Cui" (in Chinese) is a pyroxene mineral belonging to the Jade group of minerals which is hard, unlike Nephrite, which is another type of Jade which is soft jade. Jadeite is formed in metamorphic rocks under high pressure and relatively low temperature conditions. It has a hardness of about 6.5 to 7.0 depending on its composition.
Due to human's aggressive mining of Jadeite and rising economies over the past decades, the price of the raw Jadeite rocks (known as Jadeite) and polished jadeites have rose more than dozen times as the demand for it far exceeds its supply. Thus, it is a very good choice for investment, as it is strongly believed that the price of Jadeite will continue to rise, due to the depletion of Jadeite.
Because of its elegancy and beauty, it is also a very good choice for personal collection or a gift for love ones. For physical healing purposes, Jadeite is believed to cure kidney stones if it is rubbed against the side of the afflicted person's body.
