Ancient cultures from ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and the Mayans were aware that carving crystals into the shape of a human skull increased their power to affect healing and human consciousness on all levels. This crystal skull was carved and polished from a solid piece of natural Jasper, combining the beauty of nature, healing powers from the Jasper minerals with the art and craftsmanship of man. Crystal skulls can intensify and amplify the power of intention, and hold the specific frequency and resonance of a desired outcome.

The name Jasper is derived from a Greek word meaning "spotted stone." Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz, a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 6.5 to 7. Its crystal system is hexagonal. Within Jasper, the quartz microcrystals are laid out in sugar-like grains, rather than the fibrous layers found in its close relative, Chalcedony.

Jaspers are found all over the world, including important deposits in India, Russia, Brazil, France, Germany and the USA.
